50 years of history, 20 years of innovation
From our founding in 1975, there have been many milestones and changes experienced in the company. Without doubt, one of the most important was in 2006, as an outcome of an internal reflection process and considering the foreseeable evolution of the capabilities of the laser, we set an objective of reinventing ourselves and ceasing to be a general service centre and to become what we are today, a specialist supplier in the steel sector of grades with high yield strengths and high thicknesses.
Timeline and Experience
- 1975 Foundation of Aceros Ormazabal AO was founded by José Agustín Ormazabal as a service center for general-purpose steel aimed at sectors with common steel consumption.
- 2006 Commitment to Specialization This year marked the beginning of a new stage for Aceros Ormazabal, as the company decided to focus on the commercialization of flat products.
- 2007 Centralization in Amorebieta As part of the new strategy, it was decided to centralize all activity at the headquarters in Amorebieta.
- 2008 Installation of the 2020x20 Line As laser technology and power increased, Aceros Ormazabal aimed to be a pioneer by incorporating production resources that enabled the company to offer material from maximum thickness coils.
- 2016 Installation of Eco Pickling Line Aware of the importance of a good surface finish for certain materials and laser cutting processes, and the need to find more sustainable alternatives to traditional pickling, Aceros Ormazabal embarked on the development of a new ecological pickling line. This four-year project culminated in 2016 with the launch of the Ecological Pickling Line.
- 2019 Installation of the 2020x12 Line Installation of a cutting line specialized for medium thicknesses, improving product performance and strengthening our production capacity.
- 2021 Installation of the 2020x25 Line Following the advancement of fiber laser power, Aceros Ormazabal installed a new thick cutting line capable of processing coils up to 25 mm thick, reinforcing its specialization.
- 2024 Specialization in Demanding Products Investment in improving the flattening process now allows us to process very high-quality materials. This improvement, together with the extension of the pickled product range up to 50 mm thickness, has made us a service center specialized in the processing and commercialization of high-demand steels.
